Social Media - Getting Started and Getting Success! (3577 hits)

Social media marketing (SMM) has revived the age of viral marketing. The word of mouth publicity can win you a huge following because people trust reference from their friends rather than other advertisements.

Everybody wants to kick start their social media marketing campaign as soon as possible, without knowing from where to begin. Jumping blindly into the social media wave can lead to major setbacks in terms of time, resources and reputation.

Follow these simple guidelines to start your social media marketing campaign and increase your brand exposure.

* Before starting a social marketing campaign, you should be clear why you are on social media websites. Do you want traffic to your site to draw inbound links, to gain subscriber or to sell your services. Huge traffic without any definitive purpose is of no use.

* Find out where you can get your targeted audience. There are various social media websites but not all can be equally beneficial for you. Like Zappos, a famous online shoe store is active on various social media platform like, facebook, twitter, blogs, etc., but Twitter proved to be the most effective channel for them.

* Create your profile on social media website, participate and contribute useful information with others. Social media marketing is all about “Give and Take” but remember “Give” comes first. Do not wait for others to initiate, go out and make connections.

* Though social media is the new Queen on the Internet arena, but don’t forget the golden rule – “Content is the King”. You may be able to get lots of connections or huge amount of traffic but your content will determined the level of success.
