Why Hire a Graphic Designer? (738 hits)

Too many professionals fail to understand the importance that proper graphic design has on their business. With many sites like Free Logo Maker and software packages like Green Box which allow a professional to generate a logo from preexisting clipart, the graphic design market is becoming highly overlooked and businesses are hurting because of it.

When a professional substitutes a carefully designed logo for an inexpensive one generated by preexisting clipart he is showing the public that the business is cheap, and that the products are not important enough to warrant proper imaging. These clipart logos also have other bad points, such as numerous businesses having the same or very similar logos. How would your clients be able to differentiate between you and the other dozen companies who have the exact same logo?

A logo is a very powerful tool as it is the first thing that your clients and customers will see of your business and it’s the brand behind every product and solution. While it may seem cheaper to cut the corner and use a logo generator instead of a graphic designer in the long run it will hurt your business. Graphic design is not out of any business’s price range, as there are many designers such as myself who focus on ensuring that businesses can afford the quality design the allows a company to secure its foot hold in the market.

Here is a quote by Daniel Boorstin I would like for you to keep in mind:
"An image is not simply a trademark, a design, a slogan or an easily remembered picture. It is a studiously crafted personality profile of an individual, institution, corporation, product or service."

All of the work I do is done with this quote in mind. I would never give someone a poor quality design, and to show that I also show with my own images that I will not cut corners even for myself.

If you want your customers and clients to believe that you are offering them quality services, products and solutions you should ensure that your business’s image tells them that you only use quality; that corners are never cut in your business.

Every word is true. Thanks for posting this, Pam! I, too, am a graphic designer and have written similar topics for business owners and entrepreneurs -- primarily in my monthly local newsmagazine, DBA Business Media. Good stuff.
