BOOK PROMOTION "TO DO" LIST

1. create a marketing plan
2. update author bio
3. write book synopsis/description
4. write fact information sheet compile media list for book galleys
5. compile media list for press releases
6. compile list to receive review books
7. compile direct mail list of friends, relatives, associates, etc.
8. solicit endorsements
9. write cover letter to send with galleys for book reviews
10. design author/speaker/new book flier and/or brochure
11. have professional PR photo taken
12. write press release
13. decide about hiring a publicist
14. secure a distributor/fulfillment plan for radio interview ordering
15. write and submit magazine articles
16. send galley copies if your publishing house is not going to do it
17. send pre-publication announcements to media, friends, organizations
18. design & print extra PR materials: postcards, bookmarks, T-shirts, pens, etc.
19. mail review copies to those you know can help get the job done
20. schedule media interviews with local radio and TV stations
21. secure speaking engagements
22. plan launch party
23. create book signing opportunities
24. compile endorsement page and quote review page
25. work on news and feature write-ups for press
26. contact local newspaper columnists and community newspapers
27. collect samples of other authors PR pieces
28. take another author to coffee to pick their brain about PR ideas
29. check on upcoming conferences, fairs, conventions for booth space
30. look into attending CBA or ABA
31. establish relationships with other speakers for co-op selling
32. find tie-in opportunities: homeschoolers, retirement communities, conventions
33. write several professional talks based on your book
34. get the word out that you're available sell yourself and your abilities
35. create a newsletter for your fan club and interested friends
36. establish a board of directors and list of prayer partners
37. develop key contacts with the influencers in your specialty field
38. Pray a lot. Keep pushing on doors
